Abstract

In May 2021, Kupang City experienced inflation of 0.74 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 105.82 (base year 2018=100), a calendar year inflation rate (year to date/ytd) of 2.23 percent and an inflation rate year-on-year (May 2021 versus May 2020) as high as 1.88 percent.
May 2021, 3 Cities in East Nusa Tenggara experienced inflation of 0.63 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.05. Kupang City experienced inflation of 0.74 percent, Maumere City experienced deflation of 0.21 percent and Waingapu City experienced inflation of 0.67 percent.
Inflation in May 2021 in Kupang City occurred due to an increase in the price index in 7 of the 11 expenditure groups. The expenditure group that experienced the largest increase in the price index was the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.59 percent.
In May 2021, out of 90 sample cities for the National CPI, 78 cities experienced inflation and 12 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation occurred in Manokwari City at 1.82 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Tembilahan City at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the largest deflation occurred in Timika City at 0.83 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Palembang at 0.02 percent.
