Export and Import Prices Index Increased by 2.13% and 1.60% in Q4-2024 Quarter-to-Quarter (Q-to-Q)

Abstract

The overall Export Price Index (XPI) in Q4-2024 rose by 2.13 percent compared to
Q3-2024 (q-to-q) and by 3.79 percent compared to Q4-2023 (y-on-y).
The XPI of the oil and gas sector in Q4-2024 declined by 0.85 percent from Q32024 and fell significantly by 11.61 percent compared to Q4-2023.
The XPI of the non-oil and gas sector in Q4-2024 increased by 2.30 percent (q-to-q)
and by 4.81 percent (y-on-y).
The exported product group with highest inflation in Q4-2024 (q-to-q) was animal
or vegetable fats and oils (HS 15), which surged by 15.62 percent. In contrast, the
steepest decline was in nickel and articles thereof (HS 75), which dropped by 9.76
percent.
The overall Import Price Index (MPI) in Q4-2024 rose by 1.60 percent compared to
Q3-2024 (q-to-q) and by 7.36 percent compared to Q4-2023 (y-on-y).
The MPI of the oil and gas sector in Q4-2024 declined by 0.96 percent from Q32024 and by 6.26 percent from Q4-2023.
The MPI of the non-oil and gas sector in Q4-2024 increased by 2.12 percent (q-to-q)
and by 10.55 percent (y-on-y).
The imported product group with highest inflation in Q4-2024 (q-to-q) was plastics
and articles thereof (HS 39), rising by 11.49 percent. Meanwhile, the biggest drop
was in meat and edible meat offal (HS 02), which fell by 15.66 percent.
