In September 2024, the percentage of the poor population in Indonesia decreased into 8.57 percent.

Abstract

The percentage of people living in poverty in September 2024 was 8.57 percent, decreased by 0.46 percentage points from March 2024 and went down by 0.79 percentage points from March 2023.
In September 2024, there were 24.06 million poor people in Indonesia, decreased by 1.16 million people compared to March 2024 and decreased by 1.84 million people compared to March 2023.
The percentage of the poor in urban areas in September 2024 was 6.66 percent, went down by 0.43 percentage points compared to March 2024 (7.09 percent). On the other hand, the percentage of the poor in rural areas in September 2024 was 11.34 percent, and it went down from 11.79 percent in March 2024.
Compared to March 2024, the number of poor people in urban areas in September 2024 decreased by 0.59 million people, from 11.64 million people in March 2024 to 11.05 million people in September 2024. Meanwhile the number of the poor in rural areas decreased by 0.57 million people, from 13.58 million people in March 2024 to 13.01 million people in September 2024.
The poverty line in September 2024 was IDR 595,242/capita/month. It consists of the Food Poverty Line at IDR 443,433 (74.50 percent) and the Non-Food Poverty Line at IDR 151,809 (25.50 percent).
In September 2024, poor households in Indonesia had an average of 4.71 household members. Thus, the poverty line per poor household on average is IDR 2,803,590/ poor household/month.
